Blinking is considered to be very important, as the upper eyelid spreads tears in front of the eye or cornea. The functioning of the upper eyelid is similar to how a windshield wiper works. If the process of blinking is not done enough, it can dry out the eye which makes it feel irritated.

To avoid this problem, opticians usually recommend the 20/20/20 rule while staring the screen. The rule is very simple, it says that “Every 20 minutes, you should look 20 feet away from your screen for almost 20 seconds, so that eyes can blink naturally and it gets time to relax.”

When suffering from dry eyes, it is better to use a laptop rather than a computer desktop. This is because, when looking down at a laptop, eye surface is not much exposed reducing the tear evaporation and allowing your eye to stay moist for a longer period of time. Similarly, while using a desktop, raise the level of your chair or tilt the screen four inches below eye level.

To keep your eyes healthy, eating healthy food is essential. For example, foods that are rich in vitamins such as carrots. Carrots are considered to be the go-to-vegetable to have healthy eyesight as they majorly contribute to improving the deterioration of vision.

However, lutein is the real star of nutrients. These are pigments that are commonly found in foods such as leafy green vegetables, peas, broccoli, etc.
